The Vampire Diaries actors, who began dating in early 2011, “are genuinely good people who strive toward having a good relationship,” their costar, Kat Graham, 22, explained to Us Weekly at the Teen Choice Awards afterparty in Universal City, Calif. July 22. “And they’re also hippies!”
In addition to collecting the surfboard for Choice Fantasy/Sci-Fi Show, Dobrev, 23, and Somerhalder, 33, also won Choice Actor/Actress in a Fantasy/Sci-Fi series. “Thank you, teens. What an awesome evening,” Somerhalder tweeted. “It wouldn’t have happened with out you.”
What does Somerhalder love most about Bulgarian-born love? “She truly enjoys life,” he gushed to Usin 2011. “Her desire to experience and appreciate everything around her, and chuckle and enjoy it, is great.”
The stars are currently shooting the fourth season of The Vampire Diaries, premiering October 11 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. “We’re getting into episode two,” Graham told UsJuly 22. “It’s going to be really bloody! It’s always really bloody, but in this last scene I was just coughing up blood…fake blood, but still! It was a really gross trash can to look at!”Graham also addressed the rampant rumors that Somerhalder will portray Christian Grey in the steamy big screen adaptation of author E.L. James‘ 50 Shades of Grey.“I don’t know much about it . . . I know it’s mommy porn and that’s really it,” she said. “In my mind, Ian deserves an Oscar one day. They’d be lucky to have him, I’ll say that. That would be a great move for him. I think that he’s going to do bigger and better things than anyone can predict and I’m waiting for those things to happen.”

The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder has dismissed rumors he’s in line for the lead role in the movie adaptation of erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey alongside Nina Dobrev.I can’t imagine Universal doing that, but that could be very interesting
The pair, who play love interests on the hit supernatural drama, are a couple in real life, and industry reports suggest they are in the running to play kinky lovers Anastasia Steele and businessman Christian Gray in the big screen take on EL James’ phenomenally successful book.
However, Somerhalder has shot down the rumors, insisting bosses at Universal – the movie studio behind the movie – are sure to steer clear of a TV couple.
He tells U.S. show Extra: “I can’t imagine Universal doing that, but that could be very interesting.”
And his girlfriend insists that playing Somerhalder’s lover in a movie adaptation of the book would be a bad casting decision, adding: “I think if we were both in Fifty Shades Of Grey, people would still see us as (our Vampire Diaries characters) Elena and Damon.”

Just call The Vampire Diaries‘ fourth season the season of no pine and hot vampire sex!
(Go ahead, squeal. We’ll wait.)
Well, that’s what you can call it if Ian Somerhalder is to be believed. And really: Is that the face of a man who’d lie to you? We didn’t think so!
We caught up with Ian and costar Nina Dobrev at Comic-Con to discuss what’s ahead for one of TV’s hottest non-couples (hey, they technically haven’t dated yet!) and Damon’s new attitude in season four.
Sorry, Delena fans, but don’t expect Damon to keep making moon eyes at Elena. Can you blame the guy? She did choose his brother in the finale.
“She chose Stefan (Paul Wesley), so I’m sure there’s some hot vamp sex there,” Ian jokes. “When she gets tired of Stefan, who knows? Maybe she’ll come to Damon?” (We bet that statement just launched a thousand Tumblr posts.)
“[Damon]’s not going to be pining. This is the season of no pine…Seasons two and three, he did everything they wanted him to do. He tried to be the person they wanted him to be. Guess what? None of it worked,” Ian says.
“He’s basically saying now, ‘This is who I am. Like it or not, for lack of better words—there’s no studio executives around, right?—go f–k yourself. Seriously, if you don’t like who I am, you have no business being in my face so get out of it.’ This year he has this sense of self-worth and saying, ‘You know what? I’ve been around a long time and you guys are a bunch of morons. This is me.'”
